Trip to China 中国之旅

 

It is only one month away from ICCCASU3 in Chengdu, China. As part of SUDIII and in great collaboration with Chinese partners, ICCCASU3 is forming its good shape. By this email, I'm pleased to present the 7th updated version of the conference programme in which all participants from 21 countries have confirmed their presence. Among others, we are happy to have the presence of: the Cameroonian Minister of Housing and Urban Development/ICCCASU2 Chair, Honorable Célestine Ketcha, former and current Directors of UN-Habitat’s programme division: Alioune Badiane and Rafael Tuts, Director of Regional Office for Africa of UN-Habitat: Naison Mutizwa-Mangiza, as well as Bojie Fu, Member of Chinese Academy of Science, Joe Berridge, well-known Urban Planner/Partner of Urban Strategies INC from Toronto, Jiang Wu, Vice-President of Tongji University, Xiaoling Zhang, Chief Engineer of China Land Surveying and Planning Institute, John Zacharias, Chair Professor/1000 Scholar of Peking University, Allan Cain, founding Director, Development Workshop of Angola, Philippe Akoa, CEO of FEICOM from Cameroon. In addition, we are pleased to confirm that Canadian consul general in Chongqing: Jeff David and Michael Dodd, trade Commissioner will attend ICCCASU3.

Here are some materials and useful information for all participants for preparing your trip:

1. Arrival time

We strongly suggest all participants travelling internationally arrive at Chengdu on Sunday, July 14, 2019; for participants travelling domestically, please arrive July 15 morning at latest.

The ICCCASU conference opening ceremony and keynote sessions will start at 1 pm on Monday, July 15, 2019.

Due to limited space, some of the regular panel sessions on July 16 may move to July 15 after keynote sessions. We are still in discussion with CCUD on this matter. Therefore, it is important for all participants to arrive before July 15 morning.

2. Transportation between the airport and the hotel

The SUD organizing committee will provide shuttles between the airport and two hotels designated for the conference for all international participants. For coordination purposes, please send your departure and arrival information as well as your hotel booking to Ms Yifan Kang/Mr Haotian Guan at icccasuB@uottawa.ca by July 10, 2019.

3. Booking hotels

Please contact us asap since rooms with special prices are limited.

4. Travel insurance

For all international participants, travel insurance is mandatory. Please send your travel insurance document to Ms Yifan Kang at katekangyifan@163.com by July 10, 2019.

5. Visa issue

We sent the invitation letters from CCUD to all participants who require a visa to enter China. If you haven't received it, please contact Ms Yifan Kang.

6. Registration

The registration will be available from July 14 afternoon. More detailed information about the location and time will be followed.

7. Presentation

1) Each keynote speaker will have 20-25 minutes for your presentation; the question period will be only at the very end when each keynote speaker has spoken.

2) Each panel speaker will have 10-15 minutes to present your communication; the question period will also be at the end of the panel.

We encourage you to use PowerPoint. Please come to the conference room for 15 minutes in advance to install your PowerPoint presentation. The volunteers will help you if you have any difficulties.

8. Poster

For all participants selected to present in the poster session, please refer to the poster presentation guidelines at https://icccasu2019.org/poster-guidelines/.

ICCCASU will take responsibility for printing all posters prior to the conference. Please send your poster in PDF format to: icccasuA@uottawa.ca no later than 11:59 p.m. (2359) Eastern Time on Sunday, June 16, 2019.

9. Panel/session chairs

We are very pleased to invite some of you to serve as panel/session chairs; please check your name and the time slot to make sure you are available during that time.

The panel/session chair will moderate the presentation of the speakers and the question period. Please note each speaker in a regular panel has a maximum of 15 minutes to present. We suggest gathering all the questions at the end of the panel.
